Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar has clarified the context behind a dialogue referring to him as a “flop actor” in his upcoming film Welcome to the Jungle.

The actor attended the film’s trailer launch event in the city on Thursday, where he interacted with the media and addressed questions about the controversial expression used in the movie.

Responding to the discussion, Akshay said the dialogue should be viewed strictly within the context of the film and not taken as a personal remark.

“We are not told that you have to use such dialogues as taunts. So, when you watch a movie, I am sure you are a smart person. Whenever you watch a movie, you watch it according to the character of the movie. So please, thank you for feeling bad about it, but don’t take it so seriously,” he said.

During the event, the actor also spoke about his past association with actress Raveena Tandon, recalling her professionalism and dedication on set. He noted how times have changed in the film industry, pointing out that she once played leading heroine roles and is now seen in mother roles, including portraying the mother of her daughter Rasha Thadani in films.

Akshay praised Raveena for her strong work ethic, sharing an incident from a shoot where she managed to quickly change and return to set despite time constraints caused by sunset schedules.

“She has always been very professional. I still remember during one shoot, when the sun was about to set and there were only 25–30 minutes left, she had to quickly change and come back. The green room was far, so she went to the generator van and changed quickly and returned on time. She is a brilliant actor,” he said.

He further added, “A lot has changed over time. Earlier she was a heroine, and now she is seen as a heroine’s mother.”
