AP Likely to Get Two More Union Cabinet Berths?

Speculation is growing in political circles that Andhra Pradesh could secure two additional berths in the Union Cabinet if the Narendra Modi government proceeds with a reshuffle in the coming months.

Currently, Andhra Pradesh is represented in the Union Cabinet by Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu and Dr. Pemmasani Chandrasekhar. However, political observers believe the BJP leadership may consider increasing the state’s representation, given the crucial role played by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and Jana Sena Party in helping the NDA form the government at the Centre.

As the BJP begins planning for the 2029 Lok Sabha elections, strengthening its alliance network in southern states is expected to be a key priority. With the party seeking to expand its footprint in the South and facing challenges in some northern regions, allies such as the TDP and Jana Sena are likely to become increasingly important to the NDA’s long-term strategy.

According to political speculation, a Cabinet expansion could see one additional ministerial berth allotted to the TDP and another to the Jana Sena. These positions are expected to be Minister of State portfolios, although the possibility of an independent charge cannot be entirely ruled out.

Such a move would not only acknowledge the continued support of the NDA’s Andhra Pradesh allies but also signal the Centre’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with regional parties in the South.

While no official confirmation has been issued, the reports have already sparked widespread discussion in Andhra Pradesh, with political observers closely watching developments surrounding a potential Cabinet reshuffle.
