Apple has announced the new Siri AI with a dedicated app at WWDC 2026, marking a major upgrade powered by the next generation of Apple Intelligence.
As developers begin downloading the latest beta versions of iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27, many have noticed that Siri AI is not immediately available. Instead, access is currently restricted through a waitlist system. Developers must enroll in the waitlist before they can start using the new Siri features.
However, Apple has not yet confirmed how long users will need to wait for activation. In earlier releases, such as Apple Intelligence with iOS 18, a similar waitlist system was introduced, but access was granted within a few hours in most cases. This suggests that Siri AI rollout may also follow a phased but relatively quick activation timeline.
To join the waitlist, users must install the iOS 27 beta, open the Settings app, navigate to the Siri section, and tap on “Join Waitlist.” Once approved, Apple will notify users when “New Siri” becomes available on their device.
Apple has also noted that Siri AI will not initially roll out in the EU and China due to regulatory and compliance restrictions.
The new Siri is described as being more intelligent, more capable, and more context-aware. It is powered by Apple Intelligence and can understand personal context, integrate with third-party apps and Spotlight, and perform system-wide actions across iOS.
It is also capable of retrieving real-time web information, making follow-up conversations more natural and interactive. Users can activate it not only through “Hey Siri” but also via Dynamic Island interactions.
Beyond iPhones, Siri AI will expand to other Apple devices including Vision Pro, Apple Watch, and Mac, creating a unified AI-driven ecosystem across platforms.
