The ongoing tussle between exhibitors and producers/distributors in the Telugu film industry has turned into a serious concern, demanding timely attention from all stakeholders.
A major issue being raised by exhibitors, along with the ongoing percentage dispute, is the uneven flow of big releases. They argue that the lack of consistent film releases throughout the year is severely affecting their revenues and putting many theatres under financial stress.
This matter has now drawn the attention of Nandamuri Balakrishna, who expressed concern over the situation at a recent public event. He stressed that there is a strong need for top actors and filmmakers to maintain a steady output of films in order to support the exhibition sector.
Balakrishna noted that the responsibility lies collectively with the entire Telugu film industry to ensure a healthy flow of content that keeps theatres active. He pointed out that several exhibitors are struggling and even shutting down properties due to the shortage of releases, which he described as an unfortunate development.
He also observed that despite advancements in filmmaking technology and improved production capabilities, the pace of film output has slowed down, which is impacting the ecosystem.
Interestingly, Balakrishna himself has maintained consistency in his career by delivering at least one film every year, setting an example for steady engagement with audiences. His remarks highlight the need for a balanced approach where the industry collectively works to sustain exhibitors, who remain a crucial backbone of the film business.
