Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday stated that in the future, patients from across the world will come to Amaravati for advanced medical treatment, as the proposed greenfield capital is developed into a major healthcare hub.
He made these remarks while inaugurating a private hospital in Guntur. Emphasising the importance of health, the Chief Minister said, “There is no greater wealth than good health. A person is truly rich only when he or she is completely healthy.”
Naidu further noted that healthy citizens form the foundation of a strong nation, adding that wealth and luxury hold little value without well-being. He also highlighted the state government’s digital health initiative, “Sanjeevani,” describing it as a comprehensive healthcare programme designed to bring global best practices to people at the grassroots level.
According to him, the initiative enables early diagnosis and preventive care, with 42 types of medical tests being conducted at the doorstep. The system will also guide citizens on medication and timely hospital visits, supporting predictive, preventive, and curative healthcare.
The Chief Minister also mentioned the government’s universal health policy, which provides free medical treatment coverage of up to ₹2.5 lakh.
Naidu urged people to focus on preventive health, stressing the importance of food, environment, and lifestyle. He also promoted yoga and described food as medicine, referring to the kitchen as a “natural pharmacy.” He recalled earlier times when people consumed naturally grown food without excessive use of fertilizers.
He further alleged that during the previous YSRCP government, the availability of spurious liquor had led to widespread health issues, claiming that public health was adversely affected during that period.
Overall, Naidu reiterated that the government is prioritising healthcare transformation, aiming to make Andhra Pradesh a model for world-class medical services in the future.
