In 2020 March, the Andhra Pradesh government released a GO, naming Sanchaita Gajapathiraju as the Chairperson of the MANSAS and Simhachalam trusts. Following this GO, ex-Minister Ashok Gajapathiraju filed a petition in the Andhra Pradesh High Court, challenging the GO.
In his petition, Ashok Gajapathiraju pointed out that the MANSAS and Simhachalam trusts have been passed from generation to generation, and that is not possible to appoint someone as the chairperson when another, older person is still alive. This essentially means that Sanchaita cannot be the chairperson as Ashok Gajapathiraju is still alive.
The HC today gave an order reinstating Ashok Gajapathiraju as the Chairperson of the MANSAS and Simhachalam trusts and dismissed the AP government’s GO. The HC took the decision after hearing out the arguments from both sides.
