Kangana Ranaut’s latest film Bharat Bhagya Vidhata has opened to a modest start at the box office, earning around ₹1 crore on its first day.
The film was released across 2,181 shows and registered an overall occupancy of nearly 11% on Day 1. Despite receiving positive word of mouth in some circles, it struggled to draw strong footfalls during its opening day.
Bharat Bhagya Vidhata also faced direct competition from Diljit Dosanjh’s Main Vaapas Aaunga and Manoj Bajpayee’s Governor. While Diljit’s film collected about ₹1.15 crore from 2,302 shows, Governor managed approximately ₹90 lakh from 1,427 shows.
The underwhelming start adds to Kangana’s continuing wait for a solid box-office hit. Her last major commercial success remains Tanu Weds Manu Returns (2015), with several later films failing to make a strong impact despite pre-release buzz.
Her previous release Emergency opened at ₹2.5 crore and went on to collect around ₹23.81 crore during its theatrical run.
Written and directed by Manoj Tapadia, Bharat Bhagya Vidhata is based on events surrounding Mumbai’s Cama Hospital during the 26/11 terror attacks. The film features Girija Oak, Smita Tambe, and Esha Dey in key roles.
The film’s performance over the weekend will now be crucial. While strong reviews could help improve momentum, the opening-day figures have already set a challenging tone for the Kangana Ranaut starrer.
