KCR Plans Another Working President Role?

Share

Former Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had earlier created the post of Working President in the BRS Party to position his son, K. Taraka Rama Rao (KTR), as his political successor.

Following a similar approach, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has also been seen promoting his son Nara Lokesh within the party structure. Now, reports suggest that KCR is considering the creation of another Working President post within the BRS, a move that has sparked political discussion.

The BRS leadership is currently focusing on strengthening the party organisation ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections. As part of this strategy, the party has prioritised membership drives and appointed in-charges at district and constituency levels. Once this phase is completed, the party plans to establish village, mandal, district committees, along with a state executive body.

In this context, there is growing talk within the party about creating a new Working President post to represent Backward Classes (BCs). The move is seen as an attempt to balance internal equations and reduce the perception of BRS being a family-centric party.

Reports indicate that the idea is to appoint a BC leader to this new post alongside KTR, thereby giving equal representation and strengthening the party’s social outreach. The proposed appointment is likely to take place around September or October, coinciding with internal organisational elections.

According to party sources, several leaders within BRS are in favour of elevating a BC leader to this position, especially as BC political representation is gaining momentum across Telangana and other states.

With upcoming elections to three municipal corporations in the Hyderabad region and the Graduates’ Constituency covering Hyderabad, Mahabubnagar, and Ranga Reddy districts, speculation is also growing that a leader from this region may be chosen.

Former minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav is reportedly emerging as a frontrunner for the proposed Working President post, although no official confirmation has been made yet.
