KCR’s masterstroke: Huzurabad to become PV district

In a move clearly aimed at enticing Huzurabad voters in the upcoming, the Telangana government is all set to announce the formation of PV Narasimha Rao district on June 28. The district, likely to be named PV Narasimha Rao Huzurabad district, will have 12 mandals, including 6 mandals from Karimnagar, three from Warangal and three new mandals, including Vangara, the birthplace of the former PM. This will become the 34th district in the state.

The TRS wants to use the son of the soil sentiment to woo the voters and to ensure the defeat of Eatala Rajender, who has just resigned from both the TRS and the legislative assembly and will seek a re-election. Interestingly, the TRS used the PV Narasimha Rao sentiment to win the Graduate MLc election. PV’s daughter Surabhi Vani Devi was made a candidate from Hyderabad-Mahabubnagar-Rangareddy constituency and BJP’s strong contender N Ramachandra Rao was defeated.

By carving out PV district, the TRS is planning to take up a slew of building activity, inaugurations and works’ launch programmes in Huzurabad. Several VIPs will troop in and out of the district and all this will help create a favourable atmosphere for the ruling TRS. Interestingly, there has been a demand for converting Manthani into a district and name it after PV as the former prime minister had represented the constituency several times. But, real politic has made KCR decide on Huzurabad instead of Manthani.
