Veteran actor Nagarjuna appears to be banking once again on the Sankranthi season, a festive window that previously delivered one of the biggest solo hits of his later career with Soggade Chinni Nayana.
Over the last few years, Nagarjuna has mostly been seen in multistarrers, experimental ventures, action dramas that failed to perform as expected, and supporting or antagonist roles. Now, attention has shifted to his milestone 100th film, tentatively titled King100.
The project is being directed by Tamil filmmaker Ra Karthik, although an official announcement from Nagarjuna is still awaited. Despite the silence, the film’s shoot is reportedly progressing at a steady pace, with actresses Tabu and Sushmita Bhat said to be part of the cast alongside Nagarjuna.
Initially, the makers were believed to be targeting an August 2026 release for the film, while reserving the Sankranthi 2027 season for another entertainer set in the universe of Soggade Chinni Nayana and Bangarraju. However, the latest industry buzz suggests a possible change in plans.
According to reports, Nagarjuna is now considering shifting King100 itself to the lucrative Sankranthi 2027 slot, hoping the festive season sentiment once again works in his favour. Given his successful track record with family entertainers during Sankranthi, the move could turn out to be strategically important for his landmark 100th film.
