OpenAI is reportedly working on a major overhaul of ChatGPT, aiming to transform it into a more powerful all-in-one platform. According to a Financial Times report, the company is developing a potential “Superapp” that could integrate advanced coding tools, AI agents, and other expanded features within a single interface.
The move is part of OpenAI’s broader strategy to enhance ChatGPT’s capabilities while also strengthening its business model ahead of a possible stock market listing. The revamped app is expected to focus not just on casual conversations but also on productivity-driven tools that appeal to both individuals and enterprises.
As part of this shift, OpenAI is reportedly restructuring teams and reallocating resources, with a stronger emphasis on enterprise customers. Businesses currently contribute a significant portion of OpenAI’s revenue, as they are more likely to invest in premium AI services compared to individual users.
The upcoming “Superapp” is expected to place tools like Codex, OpenAI’s AI-powered coding assistant, at the core of the experience. This would make coding, debugging, and development tasks more accessible directly within ChatGPT. The interface may also be redesigned to highlight multiple features such as suggested prompts, quick actions, image generation, and third-party integrations.
The report suggests that OpenAI is aiming to turn ChatGPT into a broader digital ecosystem rather than just a chatbot. Enterprise adoption is growing rapidly, with around 2 million businesses reportedly contributing nearly 40% of the company’s revenue—figures expected to rise further in the coming months.
In addition, OpenAI is said to be preparing for a confidential U.S. IPO filing, further driving its push to expand ChatGPT’s role in both consumer and business markets. The upcoming updates are expected to gradually roll out through web and mobile platforms in the near future.
