Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, who also holds the forest portfolio, is actively focusing on wildlife conservation and environmental protection initiatives in the state.
Under his leadership, the forest department has launched a new program named HANUMAN, aimed at protecting wildlife and improving the living conditions of wild animals while ensuring public safety.
The program recently recorded its first successful operation after a leopard was safely rescued in Tirupati. According to officials, the animal was found at Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University premises and was carefully rescued without the use of tranquillization, ensuring zero disturbance to both the animal and the surrounding area.
A statement from the HANUMAN team said the operation was carried out under Pawan Kalyan’s directions, prioritising the safety of students, staff, and the animal. The one-year-old female leopard was later shifted to SV Zoo Park for medical examination.
Officials added that the mission reflects the government’s commitment to balancing wildlife conservation with public safety. The successful rescue marks the first major operation under the HANUMAN initiative, which the department says will continue similar efforts in the future.
