Purushaha Review: Weak Second Half Spoils Simple Comedy Drama

Story Overview

Purushaha revolves around four childhood friends whose married lives slowly fall into trouble due to ego issues, misunderstandings, and lack of trust. Their wives unexpectedly file for divorce cases but never show up in court, raising suspicion. A curious judge steps in to uncover what actually went wrong in their relationships, leading to a mix of comedy and emotional drama.

Review

The film begins on a light and entertaining note, presenting a simple story rooted in everyday relationship issues. The first half has a few engaging comedy moments and benefits from familiar comedic actors, making it mildly entertaining.

However, the film struggles to maintain the same energy after the interval. The narrative becomes dull, repetitive, and lacks emotional strength. Instead of deepening the conflict, the second half relies on outdated and forced comedy tracks that slow down the story.

The emotional core of the film—marital misunderstandings and communication gaps—is not explored effectively, which weakens the overall impact.

Performances

Debut actor Pawan Kalyan Battula delivers a confident and fairly decent performance. Sapthagiri and Vennela Kishore stick to their usual comedic style with mixed results. Raj Kumar Kasireddy leaves a better impression compared to others. The female leads are adequate, while VTV Ganesh’s role feels repetitive and predictable.

Technical Aspects

The music is average, though the background score manages to support a few scenes. Cinematography is serviceable without any standout moments. Editing could have been sharper, especially in the second half where several scenes feel unnecessary. Production values are decent for this type of film.

What Works

  • A few comedy sequences
  • Simple, relatable storyline
  • Some performances, especially Raj Kumar Kasireddy

What Doesn’t Work

  • Weak and slow second half
  • Forced and outdated comedy tracks
  • Lack of emotional depth
  • Predictable narration

Final Verdict

Purushaha has a workable concept about relationships and misunderstandings, but the execution fails to keep it engaging throughout. It ends up as a flat comedy-drama that works only in parts. A passable one-time watch with low impact.
