Realme India CEO Michael Guo has stepped down from his role amid a broader restructuring within the Oppo group ecosystem, as the company moves closer to integrating Realme and OnePlus under a unified corporate structure. The development comes shortly after OnePlus India CEO Robin Liu also exited his position as part of ongoing organisational changes.

According to a MoneyControl report, Realme confirmed that Michael Guo resigned due to health-related reasons. A company spokesperson said, “We confirm that Michael Guo has stepped down from his role as the Representative Head overseeing business of India at realme brand due to certain health reasons. The company respects his decision and extends its sincere appreciation for his valuable contributions to the business including the India territory during his tenure.”

The statement further added that Realme Global Vice President Chase Xu will now take over leadership of the India operations. The company reiterated that India remains a key market and that it is committed to long-term growth in the region.

Michael Guo has been a key figure in the Oppo group’s leadership structure for several years. He was part of Realme’s founding team under Sky Li and joined Realme India in 2018 as Sales and GTM Director. Prior to that, he held multiple retail and marketing roles across Southeast Asia, including Vietnam and Thailand.

During his tenure in India, Realme achieved strong growth milestones, including crossing one million units sold during Flipkart’s Big Billion Days sale and becoming one of the top smartphone brands on the platform in 2019. He also held leadership roles across India and Europe, and later served as CEO of Realme Indonesia and Southeast Asia in 2021. After Madhav Sheth’s exit in 2023, Guo returned to lead Realme India operations.

Recently, Realme was repositioned as a sub-brand under Oppo, and the company has undergone several structural changes, including reported layoffs across different divisions in India.

Going forward, Oppo is expected to further consolidate Realme into its broader business framework. Reports suggest the brand may eventually transition from a standalone identity into a product series within Oppo’s portfolio, with possible integration of distribution networks as well.
