Revanth Breaks Silence on Pawan Row

Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan found himself at the centre of a political controversy in Telangana last week following a war of words with several leaders from the Congress and other parties in the state.

What began as a routine political dispute soon escalated into a larger regional issue after the Telangana government denied permission for a public meeting proposed by Pawan Kalyan in Hyderabad on Telangana Formation Day. However, the situation gradually cooled down after the Jana Sena chief chose to maintain restraint in his subsequent interactions with the media.

Breaking his silence on the controversy, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy clarified that the government’s decision to withhold permission for the event was based purely on security and law-and-order considerations.

“Pawan Kalyan is free to visit Telangana, travel anywhere in the state and take part in political activities,” Revanth Reddy said during an informal interaction with the media in New Delhi, dismissing allegations of political intolerance.

Drawing a comparison with Andhra Pradesh, the Chief Minister pointed out that even former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy had been denied permission for public meetings on several occasions. “Pawan Kalyan himself should explain why those permissions were refused at that time,” he remarked.

Revanth Reddy also responded to criticism directed at his political style and rejected comparisons with authoritarian leaders. “I have never said Adolf Hitler is my role model. Would anyone living in a democracy say that Hitler is their ideal?” he asked, strongly dismissing the allegations.
