Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has directed officials to complete land acquisition for all major irrigation projects in the undivided Mahabubnagar district on a war footing, emphasizing that project execution cannot move forward without resolving land acquisition and rehabilitation (R&R) issues.

During a two-day visit to the Mahabubnagar district aimed at accelerating irrigation works in the drought-prone Palamuru region, the Chief Minister reviewed ongoing projects along with Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy and other senior officials. He stressed that land acquisition must be treated as the top priority to ensure timely completion of key infrastructure projects.

Revanth Reddy instructed district collectors to closely coordinate with local MLAs and MLCs and personally monitor land acquisition at the field level. He also assured that the government would provide necessary funds for land acquisition and rehabilitation without delay.

Following the review meeting, Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy briefed the media on the progress of the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme and other projects in the region. He said that civil works would be taken up on a large scale only after completing land acquisition and R&R activities.

He highlighted significant progress in several reservoirs under the project. Narlapur Reservoir has reached 100% completion, while Yedula Reservoir works have crossed 95%. At Vattem Reservoir, bank works are completed and concrete and embankment works are underway. In Karivena Reservoir, major embankment works are complete, with remaining concrete works in progress.

The minister also instructed officials to prioritize trunk infrastructure and prepare realistic work schedules aligned with financial planning. He emphasized swift resolution of court cases affecting project timelines and asked departments to submit monthly fund requirement projections in advance.

Reiterating the government’s strategy, he stated that focus would first remain on completing land acquisition and R&R under Part-A of the projects. Only after this phase is completed will large-scale civil works under Part-B be taken up, ensuring efficient use of resources and faster execution of key irrigation initiatives.
