Samsung is expected to unveil its next-generation foldable smartphones, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8, in the coming months. If the company follows its usual launch timeline, the devices could make their debut as early as July 2026.
As the expected launch draws closer, several leaks and reports have started revealing key details about the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8. Samsung is reportedly focusing heavily on refining the device’s design this year, aiming to make the foldable slimmer, lighter, and more comfortable for everyday use.
According to reports, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 could weigh around 210 grams, slightly lighter than its predecessor. The device is also expected to measure about 4.1mm in thickness when unfolded, giving it a more compact and premium feel in hand.
Samsung is also said to be redesigning the hinge mechanism to improve the folding experience. The new hinge may allow the device to open flatter and more smoothly, reducing the stiff feel seen in some earlier foldable models. In terms of aesthetics, the company may move away from rounded edges and introduce a flatter frame with sharper rectangular corners for a more modern look.
One major change that could surprise users is the possible removal of S Pen support from the Galaxy Z Fold 8. While Samsung has not officially confirmed this, reports suggest the company may prioritise a thinner and lighter design over stylus compatibility.
Alongside the standard Fold model, Samsung is also rumoured to be working on a new variant called the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide. This version is expected to feature a wider 4:3 aspect ratio on the inner display and could weigh close to 200 grams. Reports claim the Fold 8 Wide may be even slimmer, measuring around 3.9mm when unfolded.
The Fold 8 Wide is also tipped to feature a dual rear camera setup with a 50MP primary sensor and a 50MP ultrawide lens. In terms of battery capacity, the device may pack a 4,800mAh battery, while the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8 is expected to house a slightly larger 5,000mAh battery.
Although Samsung has not officially confirmed these specifications yet, the upcoming foldable lineup is expected to focus on portability, improved usability, and a more refined premium design compared to previous generations.
