Jr NTR and director Trivikram Srinivas’ upcoming film has sparked controversy well before its release, following objections raised by Tamil nationalist leader Seeman over its reported portrayal of Lord Murugan.
Seeman alleged that the film depicts Lord Murugan, also known as Subrahmanya Swamy, as a deity associated with North India, a claim he strongly rejected. He argued that Murugan is an integral part of Tamil culture and identity, with deep historical and spiritual roots in Tamil Nadu.
Expressing concern over what he described as a distortion of Tamil heritage, Seeman warned that his party would intensify protests if the makers fail to address the issue or proceed with the alleged portrayal.
He further stated that filmmakers should be mindful of religious and cultural sensitivities, adding that Tamil sentiments should not be hurt in the name of creative freedom.
“We will not remain silent if the feelings of Tamils are insulted,” Seeman reportedly said.
Although the makers have not responded to the allegations so far, the controversy has already generated significant buzz around the Jr NTR–Trivikram project, with many now watching closely to see how the team addresses the objections.
