White House spokesperson Kush Desai has once again reaffirmed US President Donald Trump’s strong support for the strategic partnership between the United States and India. Speaking to ANI, Desai highlighted Trump’s recent interaction during the America 250 celebrations in New Delhi and emphasized the importance of US Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s four-day visit to India.

According to Desai, President Trump has consistently expressed his commitment to strengthening ties with India. Referring to a recent diplomatic moment, he mentioned how US Ambassador Sergio Gor connected Trump live over a speakerphone during the America 250 event in New Delhi, allowing dignitaries present at the celebration to hear the President’s message directly.

During the interaction, Trump praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and described him as a close friend. He said he was a “big fan” of Modi and extended his greetings to everyone attending the event, further underlining the warm personal rapport between the two leaders.

Desai also stated that Marco Rubio’s recent India visit was a “landmark” step aimed at expanding bilateral cooperation in areas such as trade, national security, and strategic partnerships. He noted that the strong friendship between Trump and Modi is helping both governments take US-India relations to greater heights.

One of the major highlights of Rubio’s visit was the signing of the Bilateral Critical Minerals Framework between India and the United States. The agreement is aimed at strengthening trusted supply chains for critical minerals and advanced technologies while reducing dependence on single-source monopolies.

The framework reportedly builds upon discussions initiated earlier in Washington, DC, under the Forum on Resource Geostrategic Engagement (FORGE), launched by Marco Rubio in February 2026. Through this initiative, both countries plan to cooperate in protecting sensitive supply chains from coercive market practices and improving long-term economic security.

The US Embassy also noted that the American government is mobilizing major investments and financial support to secure critical mineral supply chains globally. These efforts are expected to generate billions of dollars in new projects while strengthening economic competitiveness and national security for both countries.

Meanwhile, US Ambassador Sergio Gor described Rubio’s India visit as highly successful. In a post on X, he said the delegation held productive meetings with Prime Minister Modi, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, and NSA Ajit Doval. He also highlighted the successful Quad meeting and celebrations marking America’s 250th anniversary during the visit.
