UAE: India Extends Consular Curbs

Indian nationals in the UAE will have to wait a little longer for regular passport, visa, and attestation services to resume, as the Indian Embassy has extended the suspension of routine consular services until July 1, 2026.

In an official statement shared on its X account, the Embassy of India, Abu Dhabi, along with the Consulate General of India, Dubai, confirmed that both missions will continue providing emergency consular services only. These include urgent passport, visa, attestation, and other miscellaneous services.

The temporary disruption is part of the transition to a new outsourced service provider. Earlier, the embassy had announced that Alhind Tours and Travel LLC would take over passport, visa, and attestation services across the UAE from July 1, 2026.

As part of this changeover, the previous service providers—BLS International, which handled passport and visa applications, and SGIVS Global, responsible for attestation services—stopped accepting new applications after business hours on June 25. Regular appointments were initially suspended from June 26 to June 30 to facilitate the transition.

The embassy has now extended the suspension by an additional day, citing administrative reasons. During this period, applicants requiring urgent assistance can continue to access emergency consular services through the Indian missions.

The embassy also stated that details regarding the resumption of regular services from July 2 onward will be announced separately. Indian citizens in the UAE have been advised to follow the official social media channels of the Embassy of India, Abu Dhabi, and the Consulate General of India, Dubai, for the latest updates.
