Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy reacted to the recently emerging “cockroach janta party” trend when asked about the growing social media movement gaining traction among youth.
Jagan stated that the youth of the country appear to be increasingly dissatisfied with the existing system, and it is the responsibility of governments to address their concerns. He added that denying or ignoring such movements could prove counterproductive in the long run.
Referring to the ongoing discourse, he said that if young people, especially Gen Z, feel unheard, their dissatisfaction could take the form of a larger movement. He also remarked that if the struggle is for justice, it should be acknowledged rather than dismissed.
According to him, attempts to suppress youth aspirations in Andhra Pradesh could lead to serious consequences in the future, urging political systems to remain more inclusive and responsive.
The “cockroach janta party” trend, which began as a social media-driven campaign by a group of youngsters, has recently gained attention online and is gradually spreading across digital platforms.
Jagan’s remarks are now being widely discussed in political circles, as they come amid growing conversations around youth sentiment and emerging online movements in the state and beyond.
