Ajith’s Salary Demand Delays New Film

Ajith Kumar’s last release, Good Bad Ugly, was produced by Telugu banner Mythri Movie Makers and went on to emerge as a commercial success in Tamil Nadu. However, industry circles suggest that the film’s profitability for the producers was limited, with a significant portion of the budget reportedly allocated to the actor’s remuneration.

Ajith’s salary demands have now become a major topic of discussion within the industry. Despite the success of Good Bad Ugly, neither Mythri Movie Makers nor any leading Tamil production house has officially announced a new project with the star.

According to industry buzz, Ajith is seeking a remuneration in the range of Rs 140 crore to Rs 180 crore for his next film. Producers, on the other hand, are believed to be comfortable offering around Rs 110 crore to Rs 120 crore. The gap between the two sides is reportedly one of the key reasons behind the delay in finalising his next venture.

Trade experts point out that while Ajith commands a massive fan base and enjoys strong box-office pull in Tamil Nadu, his theatrical market remains largely concentrated in Tamil-speaking territories. This has made producers cautious about committing such a high remuneration solely on the strength of theatrical revenues.

As a result, the actor has gone more than a year without announcing a new film, leading to increasing curiosity among fans about his next move.

Several Telugu production houses are said to be interested in collaborating with Ajith, but sources indicate that remuneration negotiations continue to be the biggest stumbling block in turning those discussions into official projects.
