Chandrababu Naidu Warns of Declining Population, Pushes “Positive Growth” Policy

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has once again emphasized the need for a “positive population growth,” reiterating his long-standing concerns over declining population trends.

During an interaction with the public in Chittoor district, Chandrababu Naidu said that a falling population index is not a healthy sign for any country. He warned that if population levels continue to decline, it could lead to serious long-term challenges, even to the extent where governance may eventually depend heavily on machines.

He acknowledged that his views often face criticism but maintained that he is thinking ahead of time. “I know a few people criticise my emphasis on positive population growth, but I am a leader who thinks ahead. If there are no people in the future, I may have to rule machines,” he said.

At a time when India is the world’s most populous nation with over 1.5 billion people, his remarks have triggered mixed reactions from the public and political circles. However, Chandrababu Naidu has remained firm on his stance regarding population growth.

It is already known that he recently announced incentives for families, stating that those having a third child would receive ₹30,000 from the government, while a fourth child would be eligible for ₹40,000 as financial support.
