Tech billionaire Elon Musk has once again stirred debate in the global AI community with a cryptic post targeting Anthropic’s experimental AI system, reportedly referred to as “Claude Mythos.”

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Musk shared a short clip of a chimpanzee using basic tools along with the caption: “Humans using Mythos as seen by Mythos.” The post quickly went viral, sparking widespread discussion and interpretation across social media platforms.

“Claude Mythos,” developed by Anthropic, has recently been in the spotlight due to reports highlighting its advanced cybersecurity capabilities and autonomous coding performance. The model is being described in tech circles as one of the most powerful experimental AI systems under testing, raising both excitement and concern.

Musk, who leads AI company xAI, has repeatedly cautioned about the risks of rapid AI development without strict safeguards. He has also been openly critical of competing AI firms, including OpenAI and Anthropic, often questioning their approach to safety and deployment.

His latest comment comes amid an ongoing global debate over how frontier AI systems should be regulated, especially those capable of identifying software vulnerabilities and generating autonomous code. While Musk did not directly name Anthropic in the post, the reference to “Mythos” was widely linked to the company’s experimental project, triggering fresh online discussions about AI rivalry.

Reports suggest that Claude Mythos has demonstrated strong performance in cybersecurity-related tasks, further intensifying discussions within the tech industry. Musk has previously labeled Claude as “misanthropic and evil,” accusing it of ideological bias, and has also criticized Anthropic’s Constitutional AI framework.

In another earlier controversy, Musk accused Anthropic of opposing certain military applications of AI, claiming the company was “anti-Western civilization,” further fueling tensions in the ongoing AI race.
