The boundary between science fiction and reality is becoming increasingly blurred as robots begin to outnumber human employees in some AI-driven companies.
Figure AI CEO Brett Adcock recently revealed that, for the first time, the company’s robotic workforce has surpassed its human employees. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he wrote, “For the first time ever, robots outnumber humans at Figure AI,” highlighting the company’s rapidly evolving automation-driven structure.
Adcock also shared a graph titled “Headcount vs Robots” covering the period between 2022 and 2026, which illustrates the steady rise in the number of robots compared to human staff within the company.
In another post, he shared an image of multiple robots placed inside a cardboard box with the caption “Power On,” a visual that resembled a scene straight out of a science-fiction film. The posts quickly went viral, sparking widespread discussion online.
While many users expressed amazement at the technological milestone, others raised concerns about the growing replacement of human jobs by robots and AI systems. Some commenters described it as a “turning point for humanity,” while others predicted a future where robots could outnumber humans altogether.
Previously, Adcock had also revealed that Figure 03 robots completed a 200-hour autonomous livestream operation, during which they processed nearly 250,000 packages without any hardware failure. The company claims that its robots are now approaching near-human efficiency levels, with significantly improved speed and accuracy in sorting tasks.
For comparison, human workers typically spend around three seconds per package, while the Figure 03 robots are reportedly achieving similar performance levels in automated environments.
Figure AI is now competing with several major players in the robotics space, including Tesla, Agility Robotics, and Apptronik, as the industry moves rapidly toward large-scale deployment of humanoid robots in industrial and commercial sectors.
