KTR Challenges Revanth Reddy to Public Debate Over Telangana Governance

BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao on Wednesday launched a fresh attack on Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, challenging him to a public debate on the Congress government’s performance and the state’s governance.

Addressing a press conference, KTR rejected the Chief Minister’s repeated claims that Telangana is facing financial distress. He alleged that if the state is under economic pressure, it is due to corruption and misgovernance by the Congress government. The ruling party has denied such allegations.

Throwing down the gauntlet, KTR invited Revanth Reddy to a public debate on issues including governance, the condition of farmers and the state’s financial management.

“If Revanth Reddy has the courage, let him decide the venue, time and subject of the debate. I will be there,” KTR said. He further asserted that if he failed to substantiate his allegations with facts and data, he would retire from active politics.

KTR also questioned the Chief Minister’s frequent visits to New Delhi, claiming that Revanth Reddy had travelled to the national capital 72 times in the past 30 months. He asked the Chief Minister to explain the purpose of those visits and urged him to focus on governing Telangana instead.

Praising the previous BRS government led by K. Chandrashekar Rao, KTR claimed Telangana had emerged as one of the country’s most prosperous states during its tenure. He alleged that the state’s image had suffered under the current administration.

The Congress government has consistently defended its governance and rejected the opposition’s allegations regarding its handling of the state’s finances and administration.
