Motorola Edge 70 Pro Review: Premium Design Meets Mid-Range Power

Share

The mid-range smartphone segment is highly competitive, with strong contenders from brands like OnePlus, Redmi, Poco, and others. Yet, Motorola continues to quietly stand out with its stylish, AI-focused, and clean software-driven devices.

Recently, the brand introduced the Motorola Edge 70 Pro, joining the Edge 70 and Edge 70 Fusion lineup. Positioned in the mid-range category, the device brings a mix of premium design and modern hardware. Priced at ₹38,999, it aims to balance performance, design, and battery efficiency — but does it truly justify the cost?

The Motorola Edge 70 Pro immediately stands out with its slim quad-curved design and premium textured rear finishes, including fabric, satin-luxe, and marble-inspired options. The Pantone Tea variant we tested looks especially elegant, giving the device a flagship-like appeal. Despite its slim 6.99mm profile, it houses a massive 6500mAh battery and weighs 190 grams, offering a solid in-hand feel with good durability thanks to MIL-STD-810H and IP68/IP69 ratings. However, Motorola has removed the in-box case this time, which may disappoint some users.

The smartphone features a 6.8-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ support, and peak brightness of up to 5,200 nits. The visuals are sharp, vibrant, and Pantone-validated for accurate color reproduction. While the interface mostly operates at 120Hz in daily use, select gaming titles can push higher refresh rates, delivering a smooth experience.

In the camera department, the device comes with a 50MP Sony LYT710 main sensor and a 50MP ultra-wide lens. While daylight shots are detailed and social-media ready, images tend to appear slightly oversaturated due to heavy processing. Portrait shots offer good background blur and edge detection, but skin tones can look artificial. In low light, however, the camera performs well with reduced noise and balanced colors.

Powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Extreme chipset, paired with up to 12GB RAM and UFS 4.1 storage, the device handles daily tasks and gaming smoothly. However, during extended gaming sessions, noticeable heating can impact sustained performance.

The 6,500mAh silicon-carbon battery is one of its strongest highlights, easily lasting a full day with heavy usage. It supports 90W fast charging, reaching full charge in about an hour.

The Motorola Edge 70 Pro delivers on design, display quality, and battery life, making it a dependable mid-range option. However, camera inconsistency and thermal performance under heavy load hold it back from being a complete package.

At ₹38,999, buyers can also consider alternatives from OnePlus, Oppo, and Redmi depending on performance priorities. Still, for those who value premium design and clean software experience, Motorola’s offering remains a solid choice.
