Samsung is expected to unveil its next-generation foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8, in the coming months. If the company follows its usual launch timeline, the devices could officially debut as early as July 2026. As anticipation builds, new leaks surrounding the Galaxy Z Fold 8 have started surfacing online, revealing several possible design upgrades and hardware changes.

According to recent reports, Samsung may focus heavily on refining the design of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 this year. The upcoming foldable is expected to feature a slimmer and lighter body along with an improved hinge mechanism designed to enhance the overall folding experience. Interestingly, reports also suggest that Samsung could drop S Pen support from the device.

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is said to weigh around 210 grams, slightly lighter than its predecessor. When unfolded, the device could measure approximately 4.1mm in thickness, making it one of Samsung’s slimmest foldables yet. While the reduction may appear minor on paper, it could significantly improve comfort and usability during daily use.

Samsung is also reportedly redesigning the foldable hinge mechanism. The new hinge is expected to allow the phone to open more smoothly and lie flatter when unfolded, reducing the visible crease effect and improving durability. In terms of aesthetics, Samsung may move away from curved edges and instead introduce a flatter, sharper design language with more rectangular corners.

Apart from the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8, reports claim Samsung may also introduce a new “Wide” variant of the foldable lineup. The device is expected to feature a 4:3 aspect ratio on the inner display and could weigh close to 200 grams. It may also be even slimmer, reportedly measuring around 3.9mm when unfolded.

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide is rumoured to include a dual rear camera setup featuring a 50MP primary sensor and a 50MP ultrawide lens. The device could also pack a 4,800mAh battery, while the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8 is expected to house a slightly larger 5,000mAh battery.

While Samsung has not officially confirmed any of these details yet, the leaks suggest the company is aiming to make its foldable lineup thinner, lighter, and more refined than ever before.
