Microsoft has revealed that leading Indian IT companies—Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services, and Wipro—have significantly accelerated the adoption of Microsoft 365 Copilot across their workforce. Each of these firms has reportedly expanded Copilot deployment to over 100,000 employees, collectively crossing more than 300,000 licenses in less than six months.

The tech giant described this as one of the largest and fastest enterprise AI rollouts globally, highlighting how artificial intelligence is rapidly transforming engineering, service delivery, and business operations at scale. Microsoft also noted that India is emerging as one of the fastest-growing markets for enterprise AI adoption in Asia.

Judson Althoff, CEO of Microsoft’s Commercial Business, said that at this level of scale, the impact of AI goes beyond productivity gains. According to him, it is now redefining how organisations operate, compete, and grow. He added that companies like Infosys, TCS, and Wipro are moving beyond basic deployment and are now integrating AI into their operating models to enable faster decision-making, improved execution, and stronger client outcomes.

Microsoft 365 Copilot is an AI-powered assistant integrated into Microsoft productivity tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams. Built on Microsoft’s AI models, it helps users draft emails, summarise meetings, create presentations, analyse data, generate reports, and automate routine tasks—essentially functioning as a digital workplace assistant designed to improve efficiency and productivity.

According to Microsoft, Infosys, TCS, and Wipro are deploying Copilot across core business functions including engineering, documentation, collaboration, reporting, and decision-making. These organisations have moved beyond pilot testing into full-scale enterprise adoption.

At Infosys, over 100,000 employees are actively using Copilot, with a reported 91% monthly active usage rate. CEO Salil Parekh stated that AI is being used to reimagine enterprise value and is deeply embedded into everyday workflows.

At TCS, Copilot is being used to enhance productivity and collaboration in tasks such as reporting, meeting management, and analysis. The company has reported that 86% of licensed users actively engage with AI tools, with productivity gains of 20–25% in research and content creation, and a 25–35% reduction in cycle times. CEO K. Krithivasan highlighted the shift towards an AI-first and human–AI hybrid operating model.

Wipro has integrated Copilot into its internal AI ecosystem, reporting over 95% monthly active usage and millions of AI prompts per month. Employees reportedly save significant time through automation, including hundreds of thousands of FTE-equivalent days per quarter. The company has also enabled employees to build custom AI agents, resulting in thousands of internal AI solutions and workflow automations.

Microsoft’s 2026 Work Trend Index further suggests that nearly half of Copilot usage is focused on cognitive work, while a majority of users say they are now able to produce outputs they could not create a year ago—underscoring the growing role of AI in reshaping enterprise work culture.
