Bill Gates Reportedly Faces Reduced Presence at Major Global Events Amid Epstein Scrutiny

Bill Gates has reportedly been asked not to attend Microsoft’s annual CEO Summit this year, amid renewed scrutiny over his past association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal. The development marks a notable shift for Gates, who has traditionally been a familiar presence at the event and often hosted a private dinner for attendees at his Washington home.

The WSJ report suggests this decision is part of a broader pattern of reduced visibility at major corporate gatherings. Gates was also reportedly absent from Berkshire Hathaway’s annual shareholder meeting in Omaha and did not deliver a planned keynote at the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi earlier this year, after his name appeared in newly surfaced Epstein-related documents.

Although Gates is no longer a majority shareholder, Microsoft remains closely linked to his legacy as its co-founder alongside Paul Allen. The report states that weeks before the CEO Summit in May, Microsoft conveyed to Gates’ team that it would be preferable if he did not attend this year. A Microsoft spokesperson, however, noted that an invitation has already been extended for him to attend next year’s summit.

The WSJ also reported that Gates missed Berkshire Hathaway’s annual meeting for the first time in decades. While he was not officially barred, some advisers reportedly suggested he should skip the event. The development comes amid indications that his long-standing ties with Warren Buffett have also cooled. Buffett, once a major supporter of the Gates Foundation, had earlier served as a trustee before stepping down following Gates’ divorce.

Buffett later told The Wall Street Journal that the Gates Foundation would not receive donations after his death. In a CNBC interview, he also said he had not spoken to Gates since the latest Epstein-related files emerged and that he would reassess his annual contributions later this year.

The report further highlights Gates’ missed appearance at the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi. He had initially travelled to India for the event, visiting Vijayawada and Mumbai before reaching Delhi. However, his name was later removed from the official attendee list, and his participation came under review after the renewed attention on Epstein-related documents.

He was reportedly staying at The Oberoi in Delhi while awaiting confirmation on whether he would attend a dinner hosted for global leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron. Eventually, his keynote was cancelled, with the Gates Foundation stating that the decision was made to ensure the focus remained on the summit’s core agenda.

Overall, the report indicates a growing caution around Gates’ participation in high-profile events, with recent developments affecting his presence across major corporate and global platforms.
